Colleagues gathered this week to mark nine years since the murder of West Yorkshire Police PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
PC Beshenivsky had been a police officer for just nine months when she was shot dead outside a Bradford travel agency, on 18 November 2005.
A small ceremony was held at her memorial at Norfolk Gardens on Tuesday November 18, behind city hall in Bradford
Nick Smart, chairman of West Yorkshire Police Federation, said: “Today we remember one of our fallen colleagues, PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
“Sharon was brutally shot and murdered 9 years ago whilst attending an attack alarm call at a travel agents in Bradford.
“Sadly since Sharon’s murder we have seen too many police officers continue to pay the ultimate price for keeping our communities safe. Today our thoughts are with Paul Beshenivsky and the children, who remember a loving wife and mum.
“We remember a brave and selfless colleague. We remember Sharon and the sacrifice she made.”
Sharon’s colleague PC Teresa Milburn was also shot and injured during the incident.
