Can you help solve this police medal mystery…?

John Rothwell medalPeople across the country are being asked to help reunite a police long service medal with its rightful owners after it was found in the Leeds district of West Yorkshire Police.

The policing medal which is more than 60 years old – as it has King George on it – was awarded to a man named John Rothwell, who worked for Leeds City Police.

A picture of John’s medal is attached.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police Federation said: “We need to find either a relative of Mr Rothwell or some history behind this gentleman’s service.

“We would love to return the medal to his family – or if that cannot be achieved – proudly display this medal at Elland Road station.

“It would be great if people could help and provide a fitting end to this story.”

Anyone with any information on Mr Rothwell or details of his service is asked to mail
