West Yorkshire Police Federation, with the full support of the COT, will be running some Wellbeing Training Seminars in November.
This is an invite for those of you who have not been before to attend one of those sessions. The seminars are free and duty time has kindly been authorised for a number of you to attend (exigencies allowing).
The seminars are aimed at raising awareness as to how officers and staff should look after themselves. You may think that you do look after yourself, and we are sure that many of you do, but recent medical screenings at districts saw officers attending and being immediately referred to go and see their GPs, so everything may not be alright!
These seminars are just three hours long and will take place at the following districts, with more to follow if they are well attended.
The speakers are from an external company and are very experienced in dealing with the welfare and wellbeing of police officers and military personnel.
They will talk through a “toolkit” of how best to look after yourself; physical and mental wellbeing, sleep, the best foods to eat, when to eat and so on.
Come to one of these seminars and learn how best to look after yourself and where to go for help if you are struggling. We are the worst people for looking after others whilst neglecting our own wellbeing.
Don’t get to the point where you are having to go off sick, by then it’s too late, learn where to go for help and what is available to you. These seminars are for your benefit and the benefit of your families.
There is a spoc for these events at each district / department – speak to one of them to reserve your place, once you have permission from your supervisor (or SLT) to attend! It’s free and refreshments will be provided. You can attend in your own time if you wish, but there will be no recompense for this such as a reallocated rest day. If you come in your time it’s exactly that.
